Our products deliver an average of 1.5% to 3.5% in energy savings across the entire participant population. The results are predictable, clearly measurable, and sustained over time.
For most of our programs, aggregate energy savings reach an average of 2% of baseline usage within three months of deployment. Depending on location, this means 150 to 300kWh in annual electricity savings per targeted household, or 10 to 15 Therms for gas customers. This means real savings for utility clients, and real dollars for report recipients.
Monthly Program Impact

OPOWER deployments takes just weeks to generate substantial and measurable energy savings
The graph above shows the clearly measureable impact of our program. The energy savings are recorded as a difference in energy usage between two groups of customers: a group that is engaged through the OPOWER platform, and another other is not. (see our M&V section for more details). The savings can therefore be unambiguously attributed to our program.
The true power of our program, however, lies in its scalability. With the click of a button, utilities can extend the program to virtually 100% of their customer base—without sacrificing our best-in-class cost-effectiveness of roughly $0.03 per kWh saved.
Impact Across Customer Segments
As predicted by our chief scientist, Dr. Robert Cialdini, the power of normative messaging is universal. One of the most attractive aspects of OPOWER's home energy reporting as an efficiency program is that it successfully engages all customer segments, regardless of income, age, educational level, or access to technology.

Peak Demand Reduction
Coming Soon...
Our program is currently in the early phases of deployment with utilities offering hourly meter reads. While we expect that our impact on peak demand will be substantial, we are still a few months away from seeing the first, large-scale impact on peak consumption. We expect to post these results in early 2010.
