OPOWER’s Energy Efficiency Portal is as a more powerful, interactive incarnation of the Home Energy Report. Built on top of the same customer Insight Engine, our online product delivers normative messaging combined with industry-leading energy insights and targeted customer tips proven to drive down energy consumption on a large scale.

In addition, the interactive medium allows customers to explore their energy use in greater detail by giving access to additional insight-oriented energy-use displays. Customers can browse our proprietary database of actionable efficiency tips and, perhaps most importantly, provide feedback into the system, be it household-specific information or best-practice sharing.
The unique advantage of OPOWER’s energy portal is that it’s tightly integrated with our offline channel – mailed reports drive customers to the portal, while the information collected from online visitors enrich subsequent reports with user-generated content that’s relevant down to the neighborhood level.
The portal features a range of interactive modules to engage, educate, and motivate utility customers, including:
- Energy Efficiency Tips – Users can easily browse OPOWER’s database of energy-saving advice, pursue any of the tips, provide comments others can see, and report any actions they’ve already taken.
- Insight-Driven Data Displays – We’ve designed our interactive dashboards to be intuitive and simple. We leave the underlying data to our statistical engines running in the background, giving users only the most actionable information.
- 30-Second Home Audit – Most customers won’t do a 30-minute online energy audit (it’s time-consuming and boring), so we’ve created the industry’s only 30-second, “quick click” online audit.
- Best-Practice Sharing – We encourage users to “brag” about their energy-saving actions. The commentary of a few is shared for the benefit of all.
- Understanding The Bill – All of our energy-use data displays can be shown in dollars as well as in kWhs and Therms. These displays are a natural extension of a utilities online bill presentment and serve as an invaluable tool in helping customers understand the drivers behind their high bills, and exactly what they can do to lower them. We also show customers what their most efficient neighbors are doing to keep their bills low.
